Margin Moves to Olympia

Margin London Fashion Tradeshow Exhibition Trade show Moves to Kensington Olympia

Margin, the longest-running independent fashion trade exhibition, is back on the 4th & 5th of August 2013 to provide a much-needed platform for new brands launching for the first time.

New for August, Margin is moving to a new venue, that is more convenient for buyers & press as well as being larger.

Margin has been based in Mayfair for many years but, with no consistent show dateline for August (all London shows are taking place on different dates), Margin surveyed their database of buyers to ask them what dates they should place Margin on.

The overwhelming response was that Margin should take place on the same dates as Pure at the Olympia Exhibition Centre.

To make the life of buyers & press easier, Margin is moving to the Westminster Suite, at the Hilton London Olympia Hotel, to which visitors will be able to make the 5 minute walk from Pure, without having to take taxis or public transport to visit the show.

Buyers have already responded positively to the move. Maria Telford, the owner and buyer of independent boutique Eternal Envy in Heaton Moor, said “We’re delighted with the move Margin are making to Olympia. As stalwart supporters of such a great trade show, we’re looking forward to the increased space too, to fit in even more fab designers.”

The owner of Eden in Edinburgh, Ruth George, added “Great news about Margin! The venue move will allow me to fit more buying into my London visit in August”.

The 24th edition of Margin London will take place on the 4th & 5th of August 2013 at the Westminster Suite in the Hilton London Olympia Hotel.

Exhibitors from the February 2013 edition had positive feedback from the show including Judy Wu, who made her European debut at Margin as well taking part in the exclusive exchange programme between Margin London and IFF Tokyo. “I enjoyed the whole experience at Margin and the exchange program it provides. Margin provides a really good platform for young up-and-coming designers” said Judy Wu.

The ongoing exchange programme provides the opportunity for Margin exhibitors to show at the IFF exhibition in Tokyo for free. IFF is one of the largest fashion exhibitions in Tokyo and is organised by Senken Shimbun, the publisher of trade and consumer fashion titles.

Another exhibitor, Boy Parker Distribution, said “Margin is needed. For me it helps to fill the gap for relevant brands that may get overshadowed by the larger brandcentric shows. If you’re looking, you will find something here. As a buyer and seller it is an essential (and more relaxed) stopping point on my tradeshow calendar.”

Rory Hutton, making their debut at Margin with their great range of men’s ties, added “Margin was our first trade show experience and it couldn’t have been better. We made many amazing contacts and the team really looked after us.”

“Back from two days at Margin London with Less Clothing. Got some great responses from some some amazing press and buyers! Going to be an exciting 2013. Thanks to Margin for being great organisers!!” said Less Clothing, also making their trade exhibition debut at the February 2013 edition of Margin London.

One Comment on “Margin Moves to Olympia

  1. Moving to Olympia is a great move.
Times are hard and transportation time and cost plays a role in whether a buyer visits a show or not.
Some of my retail clients get for example frustrated when you have to visit 3 locations when visiting a show in Paris…

Anything that helps is a plus.
